Dear CPD  Patients

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines in the near future. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: Our commitment to your safety and dental health!

We are reopening our office in May for all necessary dental procedures, but will not be scheduling any cleaning appointments or elective dental treatment until June 1st, due to the DE Covid-19 regulations.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your previous visits to our office. However, during this unusual situation, we are going above and beyond our normal sterilization and daily cleaning procedures to keep our patients and our staff safe.

We are closely following the most current practice guidelines from the American Dental Association (ADA), U.S. Centers for disease control (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes only to protect you and not to annoy anyone, so please be patient with us!

The following is a summary of all the extra precautions we are taking to protect everyone:

  • Our office will communicate with you before-hand (when confirming your appointment) to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office. We will also be checking your temperature before your appointment. The pre-screening form will be available on our website soon.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office and before you leave. You will also be asked to wear a mask upon entering the office and after your appointment has been completed, until you exit the office.
  • You may see that our waiting room and operatories will be bare as we are removing any items that are difficult to clean.
  • Appointments will be staggered and longer to allow for social distancing between patients and to deep clean all operatories and reception after procedures. We will also be wiping down the reception and front desk areas after every patient.
  • The reception area will be closed. Check-in will be done over the phone. Please wait to be called in for your appointment once the previous patient has left and sanitation of any surfaces that were touched by the previous patient is completed. Only patients may enter the office for their appointment. Spouses, friends,  and caregivers will have to wait outside.  Don't worry we will take good care of your loved one!
  • We will also look a little different to you! We will be wearing a lot more personal protective equipment (N95 masks, gowns, head covering, goggles and face shields). We will be changing and sanitizing all PPE between patients to keep all our patients safe.  Front desk staff will also be wearing masks and gloves.
  • Along with routinely sanitizing all contacted surfaces with a hospital grade cleaner  between patients, we are also installing HEPA filters in all operatories to sanitize the air.  We are also installing two heavy duty HEPA filters within our HVAC system to sanitize all circulating air in the office.  Furthermore, we are installing 2 hospital grade germicidal ionizers within the HVAC system to kill any virus in the air.

I hope this letter alleviates any fears you may have about your dental visit.  The CPD team is going to constantly update their covid-19 infection protocol and utilize the best technology available to keep you safe until this pandemic is over.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we are taking to keep you safe.
